Russian Guitar Seminar in Iowa City, IA, May 26-31, 2006
WHAT IS THE RUSSIAN GUITAR?
The Russian seven-string guitar is a unique instrument, popular in Russia since the mid-1790s and tuned DGBdgbd’. It was played nowhere else in the world, and it accumulated a vast and extremely high-quality repertoire. Some of you may be familiar with it through publications by Matanya Ophee and recordings by Oleg Timofeyev. But this is only the tip of the iceberg.
